The college was established in the year 1986 with the objective of providing quality medical education to students with an emphasis on community-oriented medical practice.The college has a well-equipped hospital attached to it - R.L. Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre- which provides medical services to the rural population of Kolar and neighboring districts.
