It was established in 2014 by the Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peeth Trust, which also runs the Dayananda Sagar Institutions founded in the 1960s by the late Sri Dayananda Sagar DSU offers various professional courses in engineering, law, management, health sciences, arts, design, and humanities. It also has several research and innovation centers, such as the Design & Innovation Centre, the Automotive Systems Lab, and the GE Advanced Healthcare Simulation Lab DSU is ranked 4th among new universities by Karnataka Rating Framework (KSURF) and top ranked in International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) India Regional Finals3.
