It was established in the year 2001 by Shri Jagadguru Murugharajendra Vidyapeetha Trust. The medical college is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, and is recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI) and Government of Karnataka.  BMCH offers undergraduate (MBBS) program of a 5.5-year duration, including one-year compulsory internship, and postgraduate programs (MD/MS) in various medical specialties like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Community Medicine, General Medicine, Pediatrics, Anesthesia, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT, Radiology, etc.The college has a spacious campus spread over an area of 100 acres with modern infrastructure and basic amenities like a well-equipped library, air-conditioned lecture halls, audio-visual teaching aids, seminar rooms, and a large number of laboratories.
